A NEW ONLYLYON SCULPTURE!
On July 25th, a new ONLYLYON sculpture was installed at Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport. The new sculpture will be a permanent feature of the airport’s main traffic circle, serving as a symbol of welcome to visitors arriving in the Lyon area.
LYON AIRPORTS: AN INTERNATIONAL GATEWAY
Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport is the main international entry point of the metropolis. Passenger traffic has grown continuously, with 8,5 million passengers in 2013. It is only natural that ONLYLYON decided to promote its role at this important regional hub.
The new monumental sculpture is identical to the roaming sculpture belonging to the Lyon Tourist and Convention Bureau which regularly changes venues around town. The new sculpture will be like a totem, welcoming travelers and highlighting the international outreach of the territory, through the ONLYLYON initiative.
According to Lionel Flasseur, Director of the ONLYLYON program: “The new sculpture at Saint-Exupéry Airport is a strong gesture of territorial marketing, in a strategic location with great visibility.”
Note: travelers who use the Rhônexpress tram line to go to the city center may not see the sculpture but an ONLYLYON video is on display especially for them.
IMPORTANT: the location of the sculpture at the airport makes it impossible to use as a background for souvenir photos, whereas the roaming sculpture can be found in easily accessible public places around town.
