China in Lyon's air
Lyon will consolidate its ties with China throughout the last quarter of 2017 as it hosts numerous international events, as well as a visit to China.
Lyon will host the 2nd edition of the Franco-Chinese culture forum “The Cultural Silk Road: the Franco-Chinese Confluence” from 25-27 September 2017, follow on from Beijing, which hosted the same event in May 2016.
This event is organised by Metropole de Lyon, Lyon City Council,
The New Franco-Chinois Institute, the Fondation Prospective et Innovation, the Sino-French centre for research in art and culture (Yishu 8), the foundation for Chinese foreign study students (WRCA) and the China Philanthropy Research Institute. Its goal is to encourage dialogue between the people and institutions working in French and Chinese cultural spheres.
Then, a delegation of experts from Lyon will fly to China: inspired by and organised and in partnership with Lyon’s Festival of Lights, Lumieres Hong Kong will make its debut on 23, 24, and 25 November to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong to China.
For three nights, the festival will showcase light installations and video projections revealing Hong Kong in a whole new light.
Some of Lyon’s artists such as the duo Inook, Yves Moreaux and Stéphane Masson, renowned contributors to Lyon’s own Festival of Lights, will be part of this adventure as part of our city’s goal to share and exchange knowledge and to strengthen the close ties between Lyon and China.
