Frankfurt Book Fair : France as guest of honour !
From 11 to 15 October 2017, France is the guest of honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the most important publishing event for professionals working in books and for the entire publishing world.
The event, supervised by the Institut Français, is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the ties between Lyon and Frankfurt that were first forged in 1960 when the two cities were twinned. It also provides a showcase for our region’s strengths, primarily thanks to the French pavilion created by the Saint-Etienne Design School, the Lyon BD (or graphic novel) Festival and the “innovation and digital” programme led by Lyon’s cultural business Arty Farty (European Lab).
A delegation from Lyon will be attending to meet the various different stakeholders: institutions, businesses, investors, tour operators as well as the German press. The Fair’s rich and varied programme will highlight all the sectors that make France so attractive, such as publishing, innovation, digital, video game, music, visual arts, performance arts, as well as heritage, gastronomy and tourism.
Lyon’s brilliance and knowledge will take pride of place. Thanks to the combined efforts of the cities of Lyon and Frankfurt, the Cluster Lumière (Lyon’s performance and innovationcluster) and the Institut Français, from the 9 to the 14 October the façade of the Römer city hall will be illuminated by the artist Patrice Warrener, whose ‘chromolithe” system has made its mark on recent editions of Lyon’s Festival of Lights.
Also worth noting: for several weeks, the city’s tram will be decked out in Lyon’s colours!
