MOBILITY: NAVLY, A WORLD FIRST IN LYON!
From 5 September 2016, Lyon’s residents and visitors will be able to benefit from the free, autonomous and driverless electric shuttle service, Navly.
An electric and autonomous public transport service
From 5 September, residents and visitors will be able to visit the Confluence district along the Saone river using the free electric and driverless shuttle, Navly. This initiative has been developed by NAVYA and KEOLIS with the support of Greater Lyon City Council, Keolis, Adème and Sytral. The shuttle will display ONLYLYON colours and will travel off-road between the shopping centre and the southern tip of the district. This vehicle is 100% electric and meets tomorrow’s urban mobility demands.
A world first in a flagship district of Lyon
Metropole de Lyon, which has supported NAVLY from the start, proposed that the service be tested in the Confluence district, symbol of the smart city and recognised as an eco-district by the French State, a sustainable district by WWF and which received the European Concerto label for the low energy consumption of its buildings.
This will be the first time ever in the world that such a transport system has been used. This urban mode of transport is part of a long-term national experiment and the goal is for this to become a sustainable service for the city of tomorrow.
NAVLY, a simple and safe service available from 5 September 2016
For a one-year trial period, two electric and driverless shuttles will run along the river Saone.
There will be pictograms marked on the ground to show its route. There will be five stops: Charlemagne, Passerelle, Les Salins, La Sucrière and Magellan.
It is accessible to all and completely free. Each shuttle has 15 places, and 11 seats. A Navly operator will be present on board to welcome passengers, provide information and manage passenger access and safety.
The service will run on week days from de 7:30 to 19:00 and every 10 minutes during office hours.
Cutting edge technology and a service that is 100% French
Designed and manufactured by NAVYA, the shuttles are 100% electric and equipped with highly efficient guidance and detection systems, which simultaneously use several technologies: lidars, cameras stereovision, GPSRTK, IMU and odometry. From its design (NAVYA) to its operation (Keolis), via its development and assembly, NAVLY 100 % French.
