Sirha sets a new record for attendance!
The world’s top event in gastronomy, which took place in Lyon in January, proved a huge success, with a record number of visitors.
Record number of visitors
This year, attendance was 10% higher than at the previous edition in 2015 for the Sirha (Hospitality and Food Service Event) in Lyon. There was also a 17% rise in the number of foreign visitors. In total, 208,000 professionals and 25,000 chefs gathered to share their know-how and do business.
France wins the World Pastry Cup
The World Pastry Cup 2017 in Lyon: 22 teams from around the world competed in the World Cup for pastry chefs. The winning team was from France, with Étienne Leroy, Bastien Girard and Jean-Thomas Schneider. Japan came in 2nd and Switzerland 3rd.

USA wins the Bocuse d'Or
In a friendly and festive atmosphere of 24 competing countries, the winners of the finals for the Bocuse d’Or were announced in Lyon. And, for the first time in the history of the awards, the American team won the top prize, after 5 hours and 35 minutes of competition in different categories. The silver prize went to the Norwegian team, and the bronze to Iceland. © Sophie Duarte
International Catering Cup
As for expertise in catering, the top prize was won by Switzerland, followed closely by France, in second place, and Singapore, third.
