The year 2020 in Lyon will be full of arts & culture, business and sports events which will all contribute to strengthening Lyon’s influence and appeal on the international stage.
2020 will feature the Biennale Dance Festival, which comes back from 10 to 27 September. This 19th edition will put the spotlight on African creativity and on up-and-coming artists from around the globe. The parade will be held Sunday 13 September 2020 in Lyon.
From 19 to 24 May, the Lyon nightscape with shake and sway to the rhythm of the 18th edition of the Nuits Sonores festival. The Nuits de Fourvière festival will take place from 2 June to 31 July, with the lineup combining theater, music, dance, opera, circus acts and more to be announced on 10 March. Performers from France and around the world will also take the stage at the 40th edition of the Jazz à Vienne festival, to be held from 25 June to 11 July.
As for cinema and the Festival Lumière, we will have to wait a bit longer to find out who will follow in the footsteps of Francis Ford Coppola, winner of the Prix Lumière 2019! A high point in terms of popularity and tourist traffic, the festival of Lights will light up the end of the year for the people of Lyon and visitors from around the globe. Sports lovers will also get their fill, as the Tour de France will wind its way through Lyon on 11 and 12 July during the 14th stage!
In a very different vein, lovers of e-sports and the famous League of Legends and Fortnite can attend the 10th edition of the “Lyon e-Sport” competition from 28 February to 1 March. From a business perspective, the Pollutec exhibition dedicated to solutions for the environment will take place from 1 to 4 December 2020. This trade fair is an international leader and true highlight in the field, bringing many participants from around the world and over 65,000 to Lyon.
